This does not go without saying that being pregnant is completely a new experience that we are trying to navigate through. But what is amazing is I am healthier now than I have been in years. Our Baby is trumping DIGITS. Nutritionally I am the healthiest, yes I am on a whole combo of supplements and vitamins but most importantly, Baby is getting the nutrients. Suddenly I am absorbing the nutrition from the foods that I eat (and vitamins, lol). It is absolutely amazing!
Don't get me wrong, I am not perfect and still experiencing troubles. I don't want to write about my troubles as something that I am dwelling on but rather as a source of information for those out there with GI issues and pregnancy. What remains most important to me is our little Babes is in there is healthy and developing and I am happy to share that our Babes has been doing great throughout my pregnancy and is continuing to.
For some reason, DIGITS is havoc on me keeping my electrolytes regulated and as my pregnancy progresses this continues to be a challenge. Lots of changes and trial and error continue with my hydration methods. I have had to take time away from work from having so many hydration issues, combined with dizzy spells, and pain spasms. But we are optimistic I will be able to return to work with some R & R and additional hydration measures. My scar tissue seems to causing a lot of discomfort. My abdomen is so tender and my stoma at times feels like it will break apart. The skin around my stoma is so tight, I feel at moments it is going to burst. I can handle the pain but what is difficult to overcome at the moment is, the pain I am experiencing causes my already low blood pressure to drop further. As a result I am having an unbelievable amount of dizzy spells.
A humourous part about all this is how my body is changing and effecting my port-a-cath. Suddenly it isn't so easy to find...but I am not complaining! lol
Being pregnant is such an amazing adventure. An adventure I never thought I would be able to embark on. Feeling our little baby move and knowing that our Baby is at home with my body is remarkable. I hope by sharing my stories of pregnancy and DIGITS will provide comfort and guidance to those with GI issues who are gearing up for parenthood!
