Our daughter was able to play in space while monumental changes impacting many Ontario families who are in need of fertility treatment was announced.
We were surrounded by cameras and there were lots of questions about our #IVF journey from the reporters. We shared honestly about the reality of our life with a chronic illness and needing fertility treatment.
I am both honoured and grateful to say that I had the opportunity to share our story during the press announcement and speak to how fertility is a health condition accompanied with financial stress.
Since yesterday I have been touched by many people who have come forward to share their story with me as now they have heard ours. I want to thank all of you who have come forward and shared your story with me. This is what advocacy and awareness is all about, getting people to know about the experiences of others. We need to talk about fertility. Creating families is a wonderful time in life but for some of us it can be filled with heartache, and having support is life changing.
From living with DIGITS, I never imagined the possibilities that are happening in my life. Yes, there have been many hardships and I still struggle with this chronic illness; but yesterday, I shared with the world that I have DIGITS, I have an ostomy, I have and continue to experience fertility treatment, I have an incredible husband and daughter, and we are living the best life!
Thank-you to Minister Hoskins and the Ontario government for recognizing that fertility is a health condition that needs financial support.
For many now, conceivable dreams will come true!
