As many of you are aware we have been busy planning our 2nd DIGITS Swing into Spring Gala. March 2nd is quickly approaching and the final details are coming together!
One of the aspects I have been dreading is trying to findsomething to wear. I haven’t bought a new dress in a long, long time and usually end up borrowing one from my lovely Sister. This year I decided I was going to brave it out and go dress shopping; yesterday was my dress shopping day. Not only was this the first time I have gone dress shopping in forever but it was the first time EVER that I have went shopping for clothes alone; just me and Oscar. I usually feel I need to have Rob, my Mom or Sister with me to keep me from getting discouraged and giving up. For those of you who don’t know, this June I have had Oscar for 5 years.
I tried on many, many dresses but something made this shopping adventure much more pleasurable. I wore my new black Awestomy boy shorts! Usually when trying on clothes my bag is flopping all over the place and I have that not flattering at all white elastic belt that clips onto my bag on. I hate trying on clothes and getting me to try clothes on is a challenge. When I do try on clothes, I tend to give up half way through. But yesterday proved to be much different, I had my new chic black lace high-waist boy shorts on!
nice and smooth. So yes, I still tried on a whole bunch of dresses trying to find the one that fit Oscar and Hope the best but in between changing dresses, I finally felt I can do this whole shopping thing. Shopping for the first time in years was fun! Not only did I find my dress but a clutch and jewellery for the evening. I have a dress that fits me (Oscar and Hope included)!
Thank-you to Awestomy for helping us female Ostomates feel like beautiful, sexy women! I felt empowered and confident! I tend feel I just have this giant bag and medical intervention on my stomach. But yesterday I felt like a woman who loves to get dressed up!
Awestomy has showed their LOVE to all of us Ostomates and to DIGITS for the month of February. We are so lucky to have people helping us Ostomates feel special! If you haven’t already, show your love to your Ostomy or to someone you know with one!
Happy Heart Day!!!
