I have received a lot of emails asking what my husband, Rob thinks about me having an ostomy and about living with a wife with a chronic illness.
I thought the best way to share with you that there really are incredible partners out there who don’t see what we think they do. Here is Rob's message. I can’t tell you how touched I am that he wrote this for you to read.
aspects of our life not because I am trying to pretend they are not existent but
because these aspects allow us to live our life together. Without these devices, such as the ability to have an ostomy she would not be here with us.
Most people don’t experience things of this nature until they are older, some make it through the tough times and some don’t. Taunya and I have experienced so much in our short time together and I find it difficult to remember what life was like without her. It’s like we have always been together.
I look at Taunya and I see a beautiful, smart, amazing woman who I cannot imagine not waking up next to every morning and kissing every night before bed. She is so determined and motivated in everything she does and is an inspiration to all of us.
I don’t see my wife with an ostomy or port-a-cath, I see her as the mother of our children, the best friend anyone could have and the most amazing, thoughtful soul I have ever met.
I hope you get a chance to meet her, she will continue to do amazing things with her life. In spite of the hand she has been dealt, she continues to amaze me day after day.
