What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese healing technique that involves light touch, also known as hands-on healing. Reiki can be used to decrease stress, improve relaxation, and to aid with health obstacles. Reiki can be learned by anyone at any age. By learning Reiki it provides the opportunity for self-healing and personal journey of reflection and growth. A beautiful aspect of Reiki is you can learn Reiki when you are ready, if you are simply not ready you can continue with your treatments.
Reiki is grounded in the belief that there is a universal energy that flows through us and it is through the hands we are able to administer the energy. By engaging in Reiki we are able to increase our “life force energy” to improve our health. By improving our health, this includes physical, mental, and spiritual.
To learn Reiki involves learning the techniques in 3 courses. Learning Reiki is broken down into Level I, Level II, and Level III Reiki Master. The courses intensify as one continues on the Reiki path. In order to proceed to the following level on must be attuned. The attunement can be described as way to signify the Reiki journey beginning.
Below is a video featuring Dr. Oz sharing about the many benefits of Reiki.
In 2006 and I went for my first Reiki sessions. I immediately noticed the warmth from the energy and always felt so much better after my treatments. I had my Reiki sessions pre and post-surgery and my recovery from surgery was very successful. I was so impressed with the impact on Reiki on my life that I decided to get my level I Reiki Certification.
From then on I only practiced Reiki and over time I practiced less frequently. In the last few months I have reflected and recalled how just how much Reiki aided my life. I began attending Reiki sessions again about 6 weeks ago and am noticing much improvement in my energy and overall well-being. Now that I have returned to Reiki I know that it will always be part of my life. I aspire to continue with my level II training and hopefully one day a Reiki master.
What does Reiki feel like?
Reiki for me feels as though a warm blanket is being glided over and into my body. Depending on where the practitioners hands are is where I feel the most heat. Over the duration of the sessions I receive, the energy I feel has intensified over time. I feel further warmth and at times almost as if the energy is vibrating. What I feel has been the most important component of attending Reiki sessions is the peace I feel within myself. How I feel prior to the session and how I feel after are completely opposite. I feel more positive and have more energy. I have been attending Reiki every week and at times prior to my session I feel closed off, and my pain and symptoms are out of whack. Everything is changed after my Reiki session; I have a much better handle on everything. I am calmer, more positive, and most importantly I feel my mind, body and spirit are all open to healing.
